Dear Menlo Park Council, My name is Sarah-Jane Measor and I own and operate the Menlo Park Academy of Dance located at 1163, 1137 and 1145 El Camino Real. The studios operate out of two buildings that back onto the public parking lot that is being considered for high density housing. Here are the number of students each day that pass through our studio buildings, whose parents and care givers use the public parking lot. Not only do they use the parking lot in order for their child to dance at Menlo Park Academy of Dance, many of them park, leave their child in our care and go shop at the stores on Santa Cruz Avenue. Number of students that come to MPAD each day and whose parents/care givers have the freedom to park in the public lot: Mondays: 91 students Tuesdays: 72 students Wednesdays: 89 students Thursdays: 74 students Fridays: 94 students Saturdays: 74 students That is a tremendous amount of cars that will have no where to park if houses are built on the public parking lot. The Menlo Park Academy of Dance was founded in 1947 and has occupied the 1163 El Camino REal building since 1949. MPAD has occupied the 1137/1145 building since 2008. I have worked at MPAD since 1992. We use the back doors to the building to enter the lobby areas. To take away public parking would be a enormous loss to my business, my students and their families as well as my neighbors. Please rethink this proposal carefully in order to maintain and grow the Menlo Park community. Thank you, Sarah-Jane Measor
